Appraisals

An appraisal is similar to an evaluation, with a few differences.  First a monetary value for insurance or other purposes is awarded to the piece being inspected. Also a  photograph of the appraised item is included, as well as several security features to ensure the document is unaltered and legitimate. When preparing an appraisal a large number of factors are taken into consideration, including but not limited to, the size of a gem, its colour, visual appeal, rarity, cut, and wear. Jewellery factors may include age, workmanship, type of materials used, wear, damage, repairs and hallmarks, etc.

Appraisals can be done at your location or in my personal laboratory, the different aspects of each determine which type of appraisal would be best for you. All of my appraisal services though, result in a laminated, secure and verifiable permanent appraisal for each item I’m asked to appraise. In-home appraisals are my preferred service by many clients because I travel to you with laboratory grade equipment and your jewellery, diamonds, or gemstones never leave your sight while I undertake the physical portion of the appraisal process. Later I prepare the actual appraisal document and  it is either forwarded by mail or hand delivered. Many people prefer this appraisal service, as their jewellery and gemstones never leave their home. 

The second option for an appraisal is one done at my laboratory. This service allows me the luxury of utilizing any piece of laboratory equipment I have at my disposal to perform the appraisal. Since I cannot disclose the location of the laboratory for security purposes we have arranged for local drop off locations with several jewellery stores. As well this service can be arranged through a local pick-up and delivery service and is usually takes 48 hours. As well you receive the actual appraisal at the time your item or items are returned.

$100.00 for the first item, $40.00 for each additional item (minimum $100 plus travel expenses beyond 50 kilometers).
