Certification
My Gemmological services are second to none and beyond a shadow of a doubt I have one of the best equipped laboratories in North America. There are times though when you require a loose diamond to be certified by a trusted name in the industry, especially when considering potential resale of the diamond. I may be one of the best and better equipped than some of the industry’s leading certification services, but you need a name you can trust.
What I offer is peace of mind and security in the Certification process by being in your corner and navigating through the process for you. Starting with a pre-grading report, similar to my evaluations, I then send the loose diamond securely by bonded courier to EGL (European Gemological Laboratories). Once the grading is complete and the diamond is returned along with the EGL certificate, I inspect the diamond to ensure it is your diamond. Lastly since Diamond Certificates only report the cut, colour, carat weight, and clarity I do a complete appraisal as well.
Laboratory appraisals are my preferred service because I do not have to travel with equipment and I have the luxury of utilizing any piece of laboratory equipment I have at my disposal to perform the appraisal. The turn-around time from pick-up to delivery is usually 48 hours and you receive the actual appraisal at the time your item or items are returned.
You are then presented with your loose diamond, the EGL Diamond Certificate and my appraisal. The process takes about 8-14 days to complete, but you have a documented diamond that can increase its potential resale value by 25%. Since I am a Gemmologist I can take advantage of EGL’s pricing for professionals in the industry. In the end your cost is only marginally more than if you undertook the process by yourself. The advantage is obvious, the security knowing it is your diamond that is being returned to you, knowing someone is watching the process from start to finish and knows what to expect, and lastly a full appraisal to accompany the EGL Diamond Certificate.
If you’re interested in having a loose diamond Certified, call me and I can get you a quote for the service. Since every diamond is different, so is the actual cost, but it’s worth it.
